Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to join Fornax?
Joining Fornax is completely free. You never pay a membership fee. You pay simple, transparent fees for each job you complete - only when you complete it.
Do I need to be MCS certified already?
No. We handle all MCS certification under the Fornax umbrella so you can focus on the job at hand.
Can I use my own equipment and suppliers?
Yes. We want you to work with what you're most comfortable with. We also offer equipment bundles through our preferred partners should you wish to use them.
How quickly do I get paid?
We typically pay within 24 hours of a payment milestone being reached. All milestones are transparently laid out at the start of each job in your order form.
Do I have to offer consumer finance on every job?
Consumer finance is optional - but our installers who offer it have significantly higher conversion rates.
Who handles the BUS application?
We handle BUS applications in full, including getting any necessary documents from homeowners so you don't have to do a thing.
What design tools are compatible?
We work with all major design tools that produce MCS-standard heat loss and design outputs. We also provide free Carno licences as part of the service.
Is there a lock-in or minimum commitment?
There is no lock-in and no minimum commitment. All we ask is that while you are working with us, you do so in good faith and follow our guidelines.
What qualifications do I need?
We take a pragmatic view based on your background. At a minimum, you need an appropriate heating system qualification and an unvented cylinder qualification, and you'll need to be working with a qualified electrician for any jobs you do.
How is Fornax different from other MCS umbrella schemes?
Fornax is more than just an MCS umbrella. We are your growth partner - helping you build a thriving heat pump business. This includes tooling, operational support, compliance support, Pay Me Today cash flow support* for your business, and consumer financing and sales support. No other umbrella scheme offers embedded consumer finance or Pay Me Today installation finance*.
Pay Me Today installation finance products are available to registered companies only and are not suitable for sole traders.
